Graphic Designer

Pen & Tell Us, a boutique marketing communications agency specializing in food & beverage brands, is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, self-motivated, designer to join our team in Austin, TX. This is a part-time, contractor position for approximately 55 hours/month, working at your own location.

  • Layout/Design for a variety of in-store and online promotions, ads, emails, client merchandise, packaging, food/drink menus and updates
  • Ongoing design support for events (sports events, holidays, weekends, etc.)
  • Prep files for online and traditional printed material
  • Gold star portfolio: Excellent design/layout skills for print and web page composition, packaging, apparel, in-store signage, menus etc.
  • Ain’t it Suite? Excellent skills with Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign/Illustrator etc.
  • Branding, Branding, Branding: How to use/follow/be consistent across multiple platforms
  • Three hands: Able to multi-task multiple assignments, be resourceful and prioritize deadlines
  • Paper & Ink: Working experience with print process, production techniques and file prep
  • It can’t just be pretty: Conceptual skills for advertising/marketing ideas? Bring it.
  • All in the details: You notice them, fix them, adjust, catch typos, align things in your sleep.
  • Death before Cosmic Sans: Discerning, keen eye for typography, type faces/families, type rules, fonts & pairing
  • Say Cheese! Photography skills: You may need to shoot a usable, good photo here and there or find one that you can use or edit.
  • Virtual Realities: Experience with social media, how it works, and what works well
  • Sadly, we aren’t telepathic. Strong communication and organizational skills are a must - speaking up and asking questions, offering input is highly encouraged.
  • Genuine interest or knowledge of food & beverage industry, wine, spirits or beer

Bachelor’s degree in advertising, communication design or visual arts

Part-time, Contract: $40.00 /hour
